Yoga Baum Yoga School, 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training

200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Overview:

This 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training in Louisville, KY is both for students who want to immerse themselves in yoga and deepen their practice, as well as students who want to become confident and competent teachers of yoga. Laurie LeCompte (E-RYT 500) is the lead trainer and brings her in-depth knowledge of vinyasa yoga as well as her extensive experience as a teacher to this training. Laurie is a dedicated teacher of both German and Yoga, and her expertise in working with students in a variety of settings provides an invaluable insight into the learner's mind. "Baum" is the German word for "tree" and the Germans' respect for nature and the forest is strikingly similar to Laurie's perspective on yoga. Yoga, like the forest, offers a place of contemplation, a path to the true Self which is both rejuvenating and somewhat magical.

Yoga Baum Yoga School is a Registered Yoga School at the 200-hour level with the Yoga Alliance. Yoga Baum Yoga School’s 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training takes place at our studio, in the St. Matthews neighborhood in Louisville, Kentucky.

Yoga Baum’s Mission:

Yoga Baum Yoga School is committed to guiding students to develop into competent and thoughtful yoga teachers.

Course Content:

The focus of the 200-hour yoga teacher training is vinyasa yoga, based in the Ashtanga Vinyasa tradition.  Students will learn to sequence an intentional vinyasa yoga class, and will learn the Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga foundational poses as the basis for sequencing. Attention will be given to the Primary Series of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, as well as some Intermediate Series poses. Students will be trained in working with special communities, such as pre- and post-natal, previously sedentary students, seniors, and injured students. Although the main focus of the training will be vinyasa yoga, students will also learn how to meaningfully incorporate yin and restorative elements into a vinyasa yoga class.

Learning Objectives:

Upon graduation, students will be able to

·      teach a creative and well structured vinyasa yoga class

·      describe the traditional lineage of vinyasa yoga

·      modify a vinyasa sequence for special groups

·      create a safe and welcoming space for practice

·      build a career in yoga
