200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Overview

This 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training in Louisville, KY is both for students who want to immerse themselves in yoga and deepen their practice, as well as students who want to become confident and competent teachers of yoga. Lead trainer, Laurie LeCompte (E-RYT 500), taught language for 10 years at the university level before opening the studio. She also wrote the curriculum, and she and her staff stay up-to-date with research on movement science and studies related to trauma and movement. Members of our Yoga Baum teaching staff bring their in-depth knowledge of vinyasa yoga and extensive experience in pedagogy and teaching to this training.

Yoga Baum Yoga School is a Registered Yoga School at the 200-hour level with the Yoga Alliance. Yoga Baum Yoga School’s 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training takes place at our studio, in the St. Matthews neighborhood in Louisville, Kentucky.

Yoga Baum offers the BEST yoga teacher training! I enrolled in Yoga Baum’s YTT to learn more about yoga and deepen my practice. I got this and so much more. The teachers are kind, passionate, and knowledgeable. The smaller class size allows for lots of discussions, hands-on practice, and 1:1 support. I feel prepared and confident to teach yoga classes, and overall, I feel more grounded and a part of a community. No matter what you’re looking for, I cannot recommend this training enough!

COURSE CONTENT

The focus of the 200-hour yoga teacher training is vinyasa yoga, based in the Ashtanga Vinyasa tradition.  Students will learn to sequence an intentional vinyasa yoga class, and will learn the Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga foundational poses as the basis for sequencing. Attention will be given to the Primary Series of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, as well as some Intermediate Series poses. Students will be trained in working with special communities, such as pre- and post-natal, previously sedentary students, seniors, and injured students. Although the main focus of the training will be vinyasa yoga, students will also learn how to meaningfully incorporate yin and restorative elements into a vinyasa yoga class.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon graduation, students will be able to

·      teach a creative and well structured vinyasa yoga class

·      describe the traditional lineage of vinyasa yoga

·      modify a vinyasa sequence for special groups

·      create a safe and welcoming space for practice

·      build a career in yoga
