Yoga Classics: The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, April 7th

Sunday, April 7th, 9:00am-3:00pm

6 Contact Hours

led by Megh Zahrndt and Dasha Grankina

This workshop is for students and teachers who are seeking to deepen their knowledge and practice. This workshop can be used as continuing education, and also counts towards Yoga Baum’s 300-Hour Yoga Teacher Training.

In this workshop, trainees will learn about and discuss the historical and yogic context, as well as the influence of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Trainees will learn how the Sutras transformed our thinking about yoga by giving it real-life application through the 8-limbed path. Trainees will also understand how the Sutras outlined the moral and lifestyle aspects of yogic philosophy. With guidance, trainees will analyze the complex symbolism in this short text of 196 aphorisms, and be provided with a framework for interpretation and modern-world applications.

Trainees will learn how to apply their knowledge of the Sutras to their teachings, and learn how to theme classes using this classic yogic text.
