This workshop is for students and teachers who are seeking to deepen their knowledge and practice. This workshop can be used as continuing education, and also counts towards Yoga Baum’s 300-Hour Yoga Teacher Training.

The Trauma Center-Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) training is a professional training designed for yoga teachers, social workers, educators, mental health professionals, and other service providers interested in deepening their understanding of the impact of complex trauma on the nervous system, and how a trauma sensitive practice of movement and breath can assist in integrating healing. This training emphasizes core concepts that inform using yoga as a tool to aid in healing from trauma. Individuals completing this training will learn the impacts of trauma on the brain, body, and relationships and how to build a trauma sensitive yoga class based on these understandings.

TCTSY is an adjunctive treatment for complex trauma and complex Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, developed in collaboration with the Trauma Center in Brookline, Massachusetts, since 2003 and as part of the Justice Resource Institute since 2006. TCTSY is utilized with children, youth, and adults throughout the United States and in dozens of countries around the world. This weekend training qualifies as the prerequisite for the 300-hour Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga certification program.

Recommended reading includes Trauma-Sensitive Yoga in Therapy: Bringing the Body into Treatment by David Emerson. Additional optional reading includes The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel Van Der Kolk, and Trauma and Recovery by Judith Herman.

*A portion of your weekend training fee will go into a scholarship fund supporting people who have experienced oppression and trauma to complete the 300-hour certification program. Thank you for your support!
