Teaching Gentle and Chair Yoga, 12/13

Sunday, December 13th 9:00am-3:00pm

6 Contact Hours

1 Non-Contact Hour

This workshop is for students and teachers who are seeking to deepen their knowledge and practice. This workshop can be used as continuing education, and also counts towards Yoga Baum’s 300-Hour Yoga Teacher Training.

In this workshop, trainees will learn how to structure and teach gentle and chair yoga classes. Trainees will learn about special groups that greatly benefit from gentle and chair yoga, such as seniors, students with limited mobility, previously sedentary students, and students with injuries. Common injuries and conditions that prevent people from taking flow classes will be discussed, and movements and exercises that are accessible to these special groups will be explored.

After this workshop, you will:

  • understand and be able to address common barriers that prevent people from stepping into a yoga class

  • be able to provide alternative movements for people with injuries, starting-level fitness, and limited mobility

  • structure and instruct a gentle and chair yoga class for students with varying levels of mobility including students who are unable to get on to and off of the floor without assistance

This workshop is taught by Laurie LeCompte.
