You may sign up for the whole series for $150, or individual for dates ($40 for 2-hour sessions and $30 for 1.5 hour sessions), but it is highly recommended that you attend for the whole series for in-depth practice of each technique. See below for the topics covered in each individual session.

Join guest teacher, Matt Johns, for an enlightening and engaging series on the theory and practice of pranayama.

Pranayama is generally defined as breath control. Although this interpretation may seem correct in regards to the practices involved, it does not convey the full meaning of the term. In this workshop we will explore the deeper meaning of pranayama in a way that is both accessible and practical for the student. In our time together we will not only learn specific pranayama techniques but also discuss the philosophy of Prana and Pranayama.

Philosophy of Prana and Pranayama. In this discussion we will take a closer look at our bodies as an energetic system. We will discuss Koshas, Vayu, Nadi’s, Chakras, etc.

3 Part Breath, Ujjayi Pranayama, Mountain Breath

Kumbhaka, Viloma Pranayama, Nadi Shodhana Pranayama

When prana moves, chitta (the mental force) moves. When prana is without movement, chitta is without movement. By this (steadiness of prana) the yogi attains steadiness and should thus restrain the vayu (air).
